CRIMS / ConERP

Construction ERP: Procurement, GRN, and Back-Order Management

Status details: Deployed in private enterprise environments

Re-engineered CRIMS into ConERP, an enterprise construction resource planning and procurement system managing multi-site materials, vendor orders, Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), partial deliveries, back orders, and automated invoice reconciliation.

Technologies & Stack

Architecture & Engineering Highlights

  • Complete GRN (Goods Receipt Notes) workflow with physical inspection logs and discrepancy tracking.
  • Robust state machine managing partial shipments, vendor back orders, and order balance calculations.
  • Automated tax, multi-tier approval rules, and invoice generation for field engineers and finance desks.

The Problem & Context

Large-scale construction sites routinely suffer from chaotic material deliveries, untracked partial shipments, uninspected goods receiving, and disputed vendor invoices with no verifiable audit trail.

System Architecture

Engineered an enterprise resource planning and procurement engine modeled around a deterministic Finite State Machine (FSM) governing Purchase Orders (PO), Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), inspection waivers, back orders, and 3-way invoice matching.

Engineering Decisions

  • Implemented strict 3-way reconciliation (PO vs. Physical GRN Inspection vs. Vendor Tax Invoice) prior to payment clearance.
  • Engineered a resilient back-order ledger accounting for fragmented shipments across multi-week concrete and steel deliveries.
  • Role-isolated permission workflows: Site Engineers file physical receipts, Quality Officers certify tolerances, and Finance unlocks disbursements.
  • Dockerized microservice deployment on AWS with PostgreSQL connection pooling for peak site inspection hours.

Verified Outcomes

  • Eliminated inventory discrepancy disputes across active enterprise construction job sites.
  • Reduced invoice approval processing turnaround time from 12 days to under 48 hours.
  • Ensured 100% auditable digital provenance for all accepted structural and finishing supplies.
